The killer tacos story
With $500 and a father funded one-way ticket to Maui, Chris Bair departed Bremerton, Washington in 1991 on an adventure that would one day become Killer Tacos.
Chris started his new endeavor by working his way through the various departments of numerous Maui restaurants and resorts learning everything he could about the industry along the way. He finally landed a roll with Four Seasons Resorts in both Wailea and Hualalai on Big Island as a Restaurant Manager but knew deep down his passion was elsewhere.
Always wanting his own business, Chris drafted up various business plans based on his collective restaurant knowledge from the past 10 years and together with his father decided that KillerTacos would be the first run at being an entrepreneur.
In early 2000, Chris opened his first KillerTacos location on Big Island in Kona’s Old Industrial Area on Kaiwe Street. A few years later, in 2002, the opportunity to open a second location in Haleiwa on Oahu’s North Shore came up and the second location has been there ever since.
Over a twenty year period, the mission of KillerTacos has always stayed the same. The team is dedicated to serving our community of locals, tourists, surfers and the men and women of our United StateS Armed Forces with pride. Known for being quick, consistent, clean and friendly, KillerTacos serves up great food and a great family atmosphere time after time.
Chris is thrilled to have KillerTaco be a family affair with his wife, Michelle, being a critical part of the KillerTaco team since 2009. In true Hawaiian fashion, they both enjoy surfing, stand up paddleboarding, golf and traveling. They are very proud parents of their daughter, with a baby on the way, who lives in Syracuse, New York and their son who works at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington.
